Yesterday, I went to Fry's Electronics in Burbank, CA. I went to look at the possibilty of getting a P4 3.4GHzE (Prescott core) with 1MB L2 cache 478 Pin Grid Array. I have one, installed, already on one of my machines, but it has ESD damage from when I treated it poorly thinking that it was a dead CPU, but what it really was, was that I needed to update the BIOS. It works O.K., but it hangs and freezes and crashes unexpectedly from time to time.

In anycase, Fry's didn't have any boxed CPU's of that type, only the barebones of that type, I don't trust Fry's to give me a never-been-used-before barebones CPU. <_< So, I didn't get one.

However, since I was there, I decided to look at MMORPG games. I've been following your Guild Wars thread, I've also been looking at Dark Ages of Camelot, and World of WarCraft. I didn't pick any of them up, because I suddenly realized how addicted I would become and that I would spend too many hours playing. Well maybe I might become addicted and maybe spend too many hours playing, or maybe not. I don't know.

In anycase, that's the reason, I told myself, that I didn't get one. The real reason was that I got confused. I looked at Guild Wars, and Dark Ages of Comelot, and saw "expansion packs." I'm going to ask a question about that in another thread.

The real reason I'm writing is that while I was at Fry's, I picked up the Complete DVD box set of Trigun. I saw a few episodes of it in WinAmp somewhere a few months back, and I liked it - a lot. I could have bought it a DVD at a time (about 4 episodes per DVD - 8 DVDs total), but I picked up the whole Boxed Set instead, $149.99, $162.36 with tax. (I saw Last Exile too, on WinAmp, I'll end up buying that too, and there's a Collectors box set of Steve McQueen films, I'll get that next time too, but all of that's off topic. :offtopic: )

So, I wanted you all to know. Hey, I bought Trigun! :spamcan: I'll start watching it tonight.

What did you start off to buy, but ended up getting instead?

Oh, wow - Trigun boxed set :D

Personally, I would have gone with the processor (if they had it in stock).

I've been looking at the Pentium D processor lately (the dual-core one, named Smithfield I think?). It looks really nice, but it means I'll have to upgrade my motherboard, which means upgrading my video card (PCI express instead of AGP). I like my card which I recently upgraded to, so I don't want to have to upgrade the card so soon. :(
