This is the story! :
Insane changed #htnets topic to "We can start making Super Mario World levels that will play on Emulators!"

So then I got on zophar.net (which I frequent) and found a super mario world level editor, the same one insane was talking about. Seeings how there is only one level editor, this is not unlikely.

What research!? You found a link! :P

Anyways, I tried making my own SMB1 level hack one time, gave up eventually. My Super l33t brothers however, was pretty much done (changed all the text to l33t sp34k).

Actually, there are several level editors and I tried all of them out. That's research. YOU just found a link. :-p

How do the other map editors work? Any reviews of them? ;)

I made a "bonus" map filled with the bouncy question marks. It is evil :P

The other map editors suck ass, and involve their OWN program (which is buggy as hell) to work. I can't recommend them for any reason other than if you want to fill HD space.

Are they all for mario, or for different snes games? Metriod mapping sounds l33t ;)

You can find multiple editors for Super Mario World, as well as Super Mario Brothers 2 and 3.

^ for level editors for any system...

I tried making my own SMB3 levels, and realized that the game is very buggy. The NES would just lock up, so I redid the level, it worked, went onto the next level, and that level crashes the NES...

oh well.

Hm, I need to upload super ruby world. Or the 3 short levels that it is lol

We need a new sidescroller. Coded from scratch. That should be your new project walrii :D

Mario is great, but real fav of mine of SNES was the game killer instinct.....great fun and challenging,well for most, heres me vs combo on 5 stars........PWNED! this match was about 39 seconds long.

A sidescroller Sim says...
I fooled around with a Megaman X clone of mine, and I was very pleased with the animation system etc, but I had major problems getting his shots to shoot correctly (mostly just the powered up shots, because of different sized frames and not being able to center them, so they'd jiggle or no line up with his buster).

This morning I thought a game based heavily on "flatland" (anyone read that?) would be awesome, but tonight, it doesn't look so hot... I'll keep thinking though.

My problem is I can't come up with an original idea...

I've always wanted to do something involving evolving programs... which just gave me an idea...

What do you think?: A game (I haven't picked genre yet) where your enemies are continually evolving, and therefore the game's difficulty increases. Depending on how you "kill" the enemies, some will survive and reproduce / evolve, others will not, so each game and enemy set would be different (hopefully vastly different).

Fyre, why take a 1024x768 screenshot of a game originally made in 320x240?!?!? lmao :D

Walrii: I also had a flatland idea. Except mine was for a mmorpg where you controlled the square, triangle, etc. You would choose a (literal) class like triangle (warrior), square (merchant), or hexagon (social elite).

Each class would level up differently. A triangle would become more isosoles, making it easier to puncture it's enemies with it's point. The square would become... more square (lol). And the hexagon would become an octagon and so on as it increased in social rank.

Combat (for triangles) would be the same as in the book, ram into your enemy. Later in the game, you may be able to research THREE DIMENSIONAL ATTACKS or something where you get to use the 3rd dimension. Maybe really high level hexagons can become circles, and then spheres.

I started on a new map today. It's really bizarre. As you jump higher, the water level actually follows you. Makes for some interesting strategy.

Also, I ran through it several times, and level 4 (the one with the question blocks and general evilness) I was able to beat in 70 seconds :D

Can anyone beat that? :P

The 4th level is the hidden one?

... How do you get there again?

Sim9

Hmm, this will give it away...

level1 = grass, short
level2 = ice
level3 = secret
level4 = final

Get to level 3 by finding the secret area in level2 :D
