Hi,
Im very new to modeling, ive got Ms3D, Wally, HLMV, etc.
What Im doing is making a mini HL mod by myself along the lines of a kind of Resident evil theme. What i want to do is edit the exsisting zombie models and delete their heads and give them normal human heads, but leave evrything as it is.
Is this possible? Or better yet is there somewhere i could just download them????
I had an idea of using the 'They Hunger' models, but i hate them, i think they look really bad.
I was hoping there was a way to just sort of copy and paste, but i cant even select a face or vertice in MS3d.
Thanks
Walrii

Milkshape includes some great tutorials on Half-life model editing (you may have to download them off their site). These'll teach you how to use milkshape, I think animations too, and then of course compiling into a .mdl.
I'm no expert, but I think that it shouldn't be too hard to cut from one model and paste from another. You may have to manually rejoin the vertices to the bone though (takes about a second).
Look around in Milkshape3d (I no longer have it installed), and there's the ability to "decompile" .mdls so that you get milkshape compatible files that you can open and edit. I think they might end in .smc (maybe?).
Well anyways, when you decompile a model, you'll get tons of .smc's (assuming thats their extension). One is the actual model, the other are reference .smc's (ie animations).
So follow the tutorials to learn how to model, maybe make your own model, then decompile the included models (You may wanna download the full SDK because it includes the source to the models, so you won't have to decompile). And then edit :)
Make sure to learn all about bones since thats what half-life uses for its animation.
Yeah, I'm almost possitive you can export from hl's fileformat into milkshape. Then do your editing, then export back into HL.
I don't do much modeling (http://www.editingarchive.com/images/rubyscreenshot.jpg) myself though, so it's entirely possible I'm wrong.
