View Full Version : Irc Servers
I think everyone knows this already, but you can now connect to HTNetIRC through two servers:
simserver.irc.htmod.com
woofland.irc.htmod.com
Please remember woofland.irc.htmod.com in case simserver ever goes down, as irc.htmod.com will ALWAYS take you to simserver. It's not set up to do dynamic routing :(

I'll remember YOUR woofland!

All these changes and I still have to disable my damn firewall Mr. Sub 7
Insane: Nice try :P
Zips:  it's for your own good :P
Yeah, because God knows it's safer to connect to an irc server that scans for Sub7 while my firewall is down, rather than to keep it up and running to block everything ELSE that attacks my computer while I'm chatting it up.

Assuming EA / HTMOD has a static IP address, is there somewhere in the firewall settings that would let packets from a certain IP through?
(ie let EA sub7 packets through, not real sub7 ones though)
I've never even heard of this before, but I think it would be a good feature for a firewall to have.

I'm not about to allow any tampering with my Trojan/Sub7 go on. Something would probably happen where I let them all through.
Walrii's right, you can add htnet as a trusted host. Though I don't think zips trusts us for some reason :P
Obviously Zips must be protecting pr0n, erm I mean, "critical files" on his hard drive. :P

Protecting you say? Is there even a sub7 version / interface for linux (ie htmod)?
IGNORE IF ABOVE STATEMENT = FALSE :
If there wasn't, then assuming htmod was h4x0r3d they still couldn't have a way to get into [Zips] machine, though... why someone would go through all that trouble to get at [Zips] is beyond me.

Yeah, because obviously hackers only break into someone's computer to get whatever porn is on their machines.
I mean obviously.
Zips is just paranoid.
I've never really understood people who run 5 software firewalls, 3 hardware firewalls, all for one desktop machine that's typically used to play Quake. I mean, what's on there that demands that level of security? If you go to the trouble of installing that much, why not just backup your hdd more often?
Don't get me wrong, I see security as essential for mission critical systems, servers, etc... but if your primary usage is playing games and word processing... 0_o
