Trying to think of a list of projects i can do during the summer.
Battle 1:
Its small so meh, its just going to be written with comments so people know where to edit and stuff.
Map maker 3:
A map maker just in Visual Basic this time, it should have most of the same functions as Map maker 2, which was made in darkbasic as well as map maker 1(which failed compleatly).
Battle 14:
Hope to be able to get it so people can play using the internet, no php though.
Anyone got any ideas of any other projects i could do.
#1: Learn PHP / MySQL
You'll thank yourself later ;)

I am heading up Archive Fiction (http://www.editingarchive.com/fiction/) this summer and from now on.
Other than that, most of my projects had to be delayed until further notice. I am trying to juggle a job, personal life, and weekly webnovel, I just have no time to produce something that would be of the quality you would expect.
Though, if someone needs help with a project they are working on (I still will be testing/mapping SimWorld v4 and so on), I am more than willing to lend a hand.

As far as projects you should do, Neo... I completely agree with Sim. Not only are PHP/MySQL good skills to have, but it would add a robustness to your games that I think you'll really enjoy. I know you're having trouble getting the framework installed, but we'll still try to help you as much as we can - even if that hasn't worked so well as yet.
Taking Battle online would be the greatest thing you could ever do.
Insane is making a subtle suggestion that Neo should write fiction for Archive Fiction. :P
And again: PHP+MySQL!

Aww, well I suppose if you are bad at writing fiction then you might enjoy writing non-fiction in a more syntactically strict language than English... PHP+mySQL, for instance :P
Isn't Python even more strict? Python has whitespace enforcing, right? (Bleh!)

If you use it, you will come to find it extremely natural to use. I'm talking within minutes. Write one or two functions and you'll see how cool and automatic the whitespace syntax is. It is also good for newb coders because it enforces good indentation.
Yes, I'm shocked rm didn't suggest python.

In case you missed it, he did (http://forums.editingarchive.com/showpost.php?p=24326&postcount=8)... kinda. In the end, he wound up suggesting PHP+MySQL, as it too is a great solution to Neo's dilemma, but for his particular reasons, you'll have to ask rm. However, he did at least plug Python.
All I could see with rm's first reply was "blah blah blah php/mysql = yay" or some such. Then Sim mentioned python being more syntax anal or something... (and you linked to the Battle 13 thread, which I haven't read anyway :p)

I know I linked to the Battle 13 thread. Point being, this and that thread are very interrelated, as in one (this one) Neo is asking what to do for summer projects. In the other, he discusses one of his projects in particular. In both threads, we're trying to convince him that PHP+MySQL would be a good solution to bringing Battle online.
I'm really not sure how you can follow just this thread and not touch the other.

Well, I used to just see the threads on the front page (most recently replied to) and visit/respond to those. Only recently have I started actually looking through the various sections :) That would definately be one reason he may not have seen the other thread... lol
Also: Python is awesome. (There, that is my official plug for Python).
Also Also: PHP+MySQL is much better for what Neo needs to do :)

Pfft... BASIC Basic, guys. Or maybe Logo Writer. I'm pretty sure Logo was my first, but they both happened about the same time. A threesome of geek ecstasy.

OMG yeah, I used Logo and QBasic approximately at the same time, which would have been about 6th-7th grade :P
Yep. I look at last posted in the forum. :D :D
Go back even earlier than QBasic... GW-Basic! :D
Logo was pretty awesome, too :)
In fact, I have a copy of logo writer around here somewhere... :D
