Well, my calcultor hiatus seems to be over. I am now working on a story for a ti-89 game. At first i wanted to port a game, but i started thinking why not make something original. A genre never done a calc in a style never seen possible.

Thats when I started thinkin. Maybe I can. A little psudeo 3d and tons of sprite animation. I can do a game like MGS on the calc. Wow the story Ideas started to flow the characters the plot lines the twist.

With all the material I have now it. could turn out to be a epic game (game lingo for 3 part ^_^). Now to burshen up on my c skills. now to post in my devjournal.

I don't think a TI-89 could do much in the way of graphics. Even if it could push out pixels, you are still limited to black & white, right?

Clearly you missed that news article (http://forums.editingarchive.com/showthread.php?t=3337), Sim. Now, I think Metal Gear SOLID is stretching it a bit, but if the Ti-83+ can do Zelda, the Ti-89 could do quite a bit. I would focus more on either 2D or "2.5D" graphics. But hey, whatever you will... go for it. Let us know what you turn out.

Sim9 surley your kidding. The ti89 can do flicker free grayscale at 4 levels. You can push 8 if your willing. The ti89 has a powerfull processor. Here are some screens of some of the best games

Command 2 Conquer Ti-chess 4.0 Excitebike68k

With just this I think what I want to do is more thatn feseable. I have already been talking with people in the community. And artwork will be coming soon.

Psuedo 3d aka Fake 3D. Its isometric. And like Metal Gear Solid in terms of the way i present the story line. Not in gameplay. I know the what the calculator can do. I want to push it to its limit.

Flash Drives on a Calculator
http://www.ticalc.org/images/news/2006-09-12-msd8x.gif

As the result of a group effort between [Micheal Vincent], Brandon Wilson (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/authors/86/8662.html), and Dan Englender (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/authors/19/1952.html), [they] have released msd8x v0.94 (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/390/39064.html), which allows the use of ordinary USB flash drives with a TI-84 Plus. Brandon has been laboring all summer long on finishing the driver and GUI to be acceptable for public usage, and thanks to his dedication and adding of nifty features it is at last at the stage for a general release. Information on downloading and running msd8x can be found at the WikiTI (http://msd8x.denglend.net/) calculator wiki.
With the appropriate cable (https://serialio.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=141), you can browse, modify, and copy (in both directions) files between a flash drive and the 84+'s RAM and/or archive. msd8x also supports the running of ION and MirageOS programs directly from a flash drive.

Darkfire that would be sweet if you could get a version of Metal Gear working on a calculator.

The original games were that same 2.5D anyways, so you could probably use a lot of the original NES sprites.

I'm sure everyone just assumed that you'd be doing something like that since you used it as your example. What're you plans if it's not an MGS game?

A [2] "edit from 3" part game if all goes well. This will be an RPG but not in traditonal RPG style. Lets see if i can give a story preview without ruing the plot.

What are these voices in my head...
Who are these people what do they want from me...
What is this strange feeling of deja vu...
Am I really me...

Nothing is what it seems. What is real is fake. And what does not exist. Controls your every thought. Is there and escape. Can you escape. Are you really trapped. The time for Resurrection is near.

Dark Resurrection Coming to a TI-89 near you.

Sounds dark, in a pleasant way. Post some screenies (although you're probably REALLY far away from that)!
