View Full Version : Using Our Weakness To Our Advantage

Ummm.... well i mean most of us really dont have some of the cash to pay up, or a way to pay but most of us are willing to contribute something. The great weakness in showing this is that due to all the demand from alot of users the TV lags. I think this can be turned into a strength. Since we have such a large number of people isnt there a way to connect our bandwiths together. I mean something like Bittorent worked pretty good because most people didnt have that much of an upload rate but the thing was able to find 20 who i connected with and that increased my rate of download hell of a lot. I guess you probably have already thought of this and think im stupid for even bringing it up. O well, one more thing, you might want to check our the New chip "Cell chip" TOSHIBA and Sony are developing with the help of IBM. I heard its gonna be pretty damn fast. O well c ya
The problem is that the average user is on a cable connection. While this has very good download, the upload is only about ~15kb/s, whereas the stream is 300kb/s. You can see that it would take many users to make even one stream.
This technology is in the works, however. Hopefully within the next few years, this will be stable and effective enough to become a real alternative :)
(Also moved this to EATV since that's where it belongs :) )

EATV has some talented artists / video makers. I know that they can easily upload their items to EA, and then link so others can download them, but I think maybe there should be more of an EATV main page. There are of course a few links on the main page to the schedule / forums etc, but a centralized location with an anime theme / news would be nice(instead of the Half-life EA stuff).
Also, Sim, consider adding more categories for downloads, I've seen alot of EATV contributors will put their commercials / creations into a "Half-life/Art" category, while some will put theirs into a "Misc." one. I think there should be an category just for EATV / anime.
That's such a good idea, I've moved it to the suggestions area for implementation. A eatv.com (or www.ea.tv) domain name would be cool too :)
