I was going to place a poll on this thread, but since it's Sim & co's site, It's up to them what threads are active and whats not.

But, Let's get something straight, Sim. All the images on the Babes thread took no more than 100 Megabytes. In fact, they probably took less than 50MB, given that they're all JPGs.

You and the other staff feel that this thread has negatively impacted the professional level of EA.
Could you please explain, as I and others are unsure what you mean by this.

I might understand if the babes thread was under the Half-Life or even the EATV forum, but it's not. It's in the Anime Talk forum which is for: Talk about general anime in here! and you have to admit, babes are an important part of our enjoyment of anime.

Finally, could it be that Anime Babes was a Loss Leader?* The number of posts has plumeted since the Babes closed.

Anyway, Dan and myself Miss the Babes. May you live again.

Though I agree that the "Anime Talk" forum is for anime discussion, and there was some discussion of anime in the Anime Babes topic, alot of the thread was just naked women in subductive poses or school girls...

The EA forums have always been very clean, friendly, and intended for all audiences. The Anime Babes topic was almost porn (some pictures were definately for people 18+), and therefore not very friendly to wandering forum visitors / children.

You said that the topic was a loss leader, and in a way I have to agree, it did spruce up activity nicely, it may have even brought in some new users. However, porn brings in the wrong type of user. I'd rather have some nice discussions about the serious questions some anime titles can raise, rather than an image battle over which IMAGINARY woman with purple spiky hair looks best while bending over in a short skirt.

Though I'm not a woman (duh), if I was, I would find it offensive to see these images of impossible proportions.
I, as a guy, do not want to see men (cartoon or otherwise) in tight pants or otherwise scantily / sexually clad, just as (I assume) women do not wanna look at big breasted characters.

Since Jack started the discussion before me, I will add to it :P As far as I know Ryoko is a girl ;) , and she did not get offended. If she had been offended i am sure that she would have told us so. Ryoko has posted pictures there her self, but I do have to mention that as far as I know none of her pics were topless. ;) If partial nudity was the problem we would have replaced the pictures immedietly! Zips has told us at the end before Sim closed it. Some pictures may have been erotic but not disgusting in any way (in europe topless nudity is not a problem). Maybe if there was a warning at the topic description that might have helped, but i do believe that would actually increase traffic. I guess it comes down to a personal definition on porn (nudity). Everybody here has their side, Sim (+staff) had his reasons to close it, but in my view closure of the topic was unnecessary. Also I would like to know if there were any complaints, if there were, then I apologize and if not.....what else can I say.

P.S. Isn't there a commercial by EINLANDER on EATV talking/dreaming about ANIME BABES??? In short skirts, tight suits etc.??? Quite descriptive I might add. :blink:

I'm sorry you felt that the anime babes was mainly porn. But in that you are wrong.
The majority of pictures may have been erotic, and some even had nudity in them, but there was no penetration (by anything) nor was there any seman.
The only crotch shot in the whole series of images was of a model of Rei Ayanami (eva), which was bought from a comic shop in New York!

RyokoStorm is female, and I would expect her to be insulted by the remarks you make about all women finding anime character design offensive. Yes, some women would find it offensive, as do some men, but they are the type of people who find women in bikinis offensive.

So did anyone, other than the staff, complain? I doubt it.
Have you thought that this is a knee-jerk reaction brought about by years of politically-correct education, teaching you that thinking is the same as doing?
I would finally point out that most of these images are from anime that are comercially available in the US.

And Saikano has nude scenes in it too. Going to ban that?

At the moment it has over 1800 hits, a not insignificant number.

I, and i'm certain Dan, have deliberatly refrained from publishing porn. There's a lot of hetai available out there for those that want it :D

You happened to catch the site right after it was hacked, just an FYI. Otherwise that link would work fine. So right now, I'm not in the best of moods.

So trying to call out what is and isn't petty minded with me will just be a futile effort on your part. Namely when there's nothing petty about declaring that probably nothing will be changed. It's just a rationalization of the truth as I see it.

I think i've recognised a common theme: Those of us who are over twenty-five recognise that the images within Anime Babes are harmless; those who are under twenty, seem to complain, possibly because of embarrassment.

I never complained to sim per se. All I did was mention what was there, and see what he thought. I even posted that little warning there about the images, but oh well. It's done and over with now.

I never mentioned my site at all in this entire thing. My site is my site. I don't run it like Sim runs this site, and as such there are different rules both here and there. It's a seperate entity from this site. There are tons of things there that Sim would never even think of having here.

I'm 19 and could personally care less about what I see on the net or anywhere else. It's just that there are expectations here that need to be met and respected by the community members so it's just had to be done. You want to post whatever images on my site, be my guest (or not guest, since you have to sign up for it, but still). It's just that, it's not allowed here.

okay so i was mentioned a few times you know who you are and what you said. I was not offended by the women it was called anime babes after all. but i do understand why they closed the thread. it may or may not have been pornography but there are still children who come on i'm sure and as a parent i'm glad they closed the thread. i know i just said two completely opposite things but in a way you have to understand where i'm coming from as a woman i didn't mind as a mother i did. I shall mourn the loss of the babes but there will be bigger and better things i'm sure. by the way the move went okay now i'm unpacking and that's going slower than the actual packing. yes i labeled my boxes. anyways have fun guys see ya soon in cyberspace.

In any case, I'm sorry to have killed your fun, but that thread did two things that I felt negatively impacted the site:

1) Took away from the professional manner of the forums.
2) Could have been unsuitable for younger viewers.

Walrii, it was that way in the begining and it got barely any posts. And a few views. After pics, the thread just blew up with views. :YES: Just look at the first couple of pages. :( And ppl did discuss their favorite babes. Not all the time thats true. :lol:
