View Full Version : Duke Nukem Forever Trailer?
Take this with a grain of salt, but supposedly a Duke Nukem Forever trailer (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50457) is coming out tomorrow. This according to the official 3DRealms forums (http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=29639), and with a screenshot enclosed (attached).
Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party. They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever.
After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 19th, around noon CST, we will release the first teaser trailer from Duke Nukem Forever. To tide you over until then, here is a screen shot taken from the teaser.
Thank you for being fans of the game and for your continued patience.
I'd like to thank the people on the team that worked so hard to create this teaser and the friends of 3DR that helped create it (Jeremy Soule and Julian Soule, Frank Bry, Jason Evigan and of course, Jon St. John).

For 10 years?! Wow... that has got to be some crunch record!

And from the look of the teaser trailer, they've accomplished... a generic FPS with poop jokes?

http://www.mininova.org/tor/1054025 <= get the high-def trailer via Bittorrent.
Also, Insane you are forgetting that this is the series that STARTED poop jokes!
Duke Nukem 3D was amazing due to its technical superiority (aka almost 3D maps) and great graphics. It also had a sense of humor about things (even if they were crude, they still could be funny) and had lots of cool secrets.
It didn't take itself seriously, which was nice. Let's face it, too many games try to impress upon the player the seriousness of the world that they take place in and most fail horribly. At least with Duke Nukem you knew you were out to just have fun.
Side note / thought: It looks based off of the Doom3 engine?

Um... There was no gameplay footage in that teaser trailer, Walrii. You're looking at pure animation through probably 3DMax or something.

I think some of it might have been gameplay footage, but I can't be sure.
Anyways Walrii, I don't need a history lesson on Duke Nukem. ... but the anime nerds here might be different...

No. No, I can tell you straight up that there was no gameplay footage. I'd stake all of Sim's personal fortune and the Archive on it.

More or less what the originals were.

There are too many inappropriate comments for that bet. I believe I will not take you up on it.

There's no way it was non-gameplay footage. Duke had quite a few jaggy polygons and his textures had that "plasticy" look that Doom 3 had/has.
If they were going to release a trailer that didn't have gameplay footage, they would have made it look good.
They also had in-game footage / screenshots back in 2001 when they were first showing it off, so that doesn't mean its actually coming out :-P
Unless, you mean that it was a cutscene in which case I guess that could be true. But, I still think it was real-time.

Remember that this is a teaser for a Christmas party. The only reason it is getting publicity is because it is Duke Nukem F------ Forever. Take it all with a huge chunk of salt, people.

You assume too much.

1) They were first "showing it off" back in the 90's. Like '94 or '97.
2) The game has undergone countless revisions, switched engines at least half a dozen times, and - Oh yeah! - it's been "in development" for over a decade!
Doesn't really mean that they have some in-game footage to present us today, now does it?
I didn't see any guns or any shots fired. All I saw was Nukem pumping iron and some Pig Cops roaring at a disco. I.e., NOT gameplay footage.

Don't be touching my non-existent personal fortunes and Archives! :P
