The series gets really interesting from episode 8. The first 7 are pretty much an introduction to the characters. Since I could never get on...I had to download them :(
But, for those of you who have seen only the first 7 episodes. I have to say that I like the characters and the anime in general. The animated characters (or the look of them) took a little to getting used to.
I have to compliment Sim for choosing this Anime. This would be one of the better choices ;) :P
</div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>SPOILER </td></tr><tr><td id='SPOILER'>At least this Anime had a better ending then Saikano  Well, I shouldn't say better, just a lot happier!!!</td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'>
</div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>SPOILER </td></tr><tr><td id='SPOILER'>Also, Sim are you going to play the Kazahana episode??</td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'>
Please do NOT read my post if you have not seen ALL of Kanon (Esp the ending)
</div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>SPOILER </td></tr><tr><td id='SPOILER'>Please define Kazahana. I intend on airing all the episodes.
Two things I really loved about Kanon:
1) The ending. I was expecting such a sad ending. I knew it would be sad. But then, I was stunned to see such a happy ending. It really made my week;)
Sometimes you just need a sad anime. I'm in that mood right now. Though an ending that's happy at the end makes you feel even better;)
2) Watch the first 5 minutes of the first episode. In the OPENING SHOTS it reveals such a ground shattering spoiler, that you don't realize until you've seen the series. This was such a nice touch, and there are lots more. Like all the fox comparisons and whatnot.

Looks like an add on after the series ended. It looks kind of pointless :( , doesnt really explain much and half of it are ending credits <_<
2.) You are talking about the hospital scene right?;) In the first episode. I have to say that I felt wayyyy better after seeing this anime then Saikano. Altough, Saikano would still be my favorite just because of the impression it left on me. In Kanon nobody really died which made my week as well;) I like how they show that the power of love transcends all possible boundaries.</td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'>

Once :P
But I didn't realise what it meant till near the end ;)
You know, when Yuuichi pulled it out of the ground - So I re-watched ep 3 to make sure :D
I love little touches like that. Shows that the animators had a guide, and didn't just draw random frames :P

Little details can make a big difference.
On a side note, how come that nearly every anime ends in 12 or 13 episodes??

Why do most american series run to 26 episodes?
Actually, OVA's were released at the rate of one per month (on VHS), hence the 12/13 episodes series length. While they are now released on DVD, the series length has remained the same :D
Note: This may or may not be true, but it's based on nearly 20 years of Anime experience :P
I've noticed that the best series tend to be 12/13 episodes, and deserve far more.
I've also noticed, after watching Hikaru No Go, that even after 80 episodes, you still want more.
12/13 episodes is just big enough to have room for everything you need. But we always will want more from a good series...

I have not seen Hikary No Go, 80 episodes are a lot. And I am suprised that the series has not become "diluted" in quality.
I wonder if the Japanese use the saying "short but sweet"

Never seen Hikaru No Go, but like the manga (think i've said that before :P)
But Maison Ikkoku went to 98 episodes, and (according to reports I've read) was better at the end than the start :)
Got to download it when i get the DVD writer :D
PS, don't watch the dub, the VA for Kyoko plays her as a 40 YO not a cute 26yo.
I want Kyoko as my landlady :D
DangerousDan

PS, don't watch the dub, the VA for Kyoko plays her as a 40 YO not a cute 26yo.
Personally like the originals (voice), I dont mind reading the subtitles.
Oh yeah, the DVD player it burns on + or -, that is dual layer right??
Hikaru No Go is great.
The first episode: "WTF is this? This is lame... but I think I'll keep watching..."
The second episode: "Hrm, what is this game they're playing? How can you have a series about a board game!?"
The third episode: "Ah, I see! Atari!"
Hikaru No Go's plot moves very slowly, but somehow they keep it entertaining. The go matches are generally not all that special (except for one near the end, woah!), but they keep you interested. And go go igo teaches you how to play at the end of every episode. It really got me into Go. Though I haven't played as much since being home for summer. No nearby opponents, and no Hikaru No Go left to watch :P
Hikaru No Go is almost like an action series, like naruto, where the plot is incredibly stretched. Except the action takes place in go matches. A weird combination, but it works, somehow...

Guilt and lonelyness kills more people than anything else <_<
That's why more people kill themselves during Valentines Day and Christmas day than the rest of the year put together :(
In this case it's because </div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>SPOILER </td></tr><tr><td id='SPOILER'>she realised that she was reposible for hurting her friend. </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'>

Jack, I cant believe how long it takes you to get stuff!! It takes less then a day for me and my share ratio is still way above 1 up to 6or 7!! And I have only adsl. Weird.
I have ran out of HD space :( so i have to wait till I get a new HD. I will get a 160Gig, seems to the best value.
Oh, just got Memories the movie(you know the one from the phantom of the opera Vid). Its odd.

Actually, most stuff only takes a couple of hours to download :)
I've got this habit of downloading unpopular stuff, well stuff that the average guy wouldn't like (Maria-sama and prettycure, yay )
Some of these don't get a seed for ages
That's what happened with the Kanon Special - 6 of us with 90+% complete, and no seed to finish the damn thimg
But everything's finished now
And Boxtorrents is back by the end of this week
That means Card Captor Sakura season 2+3 - uncut and subtitled

I realize this post is a little late after this topic started, but i just started using this. Anyway, is Nayuki Yuuichi's (or however you spell his name) cousin?
Welcome to the forums!
From Animenfo.com:
To live together in the cousin's house, Yuichi Aizawa visited the town after an interval of seven years
That suggests that they ARE cousins, which means the whole crush that Nayuki has is a little more than odd... :P
Also, from animenfo character bio's
Nayuki is Yuuichi's cousin. She falls in love with him, but he loves Ayu...
Also something interesting I found is that Animenfo says Kanon is based on a game. This would indicate there may be some truth when I heard the series was actually based on, of all things, a hentai dating game. Bizarre.
jackbassv
08-13-2004, 08:23 AM
There are two versions of the game: the original adult version and an all-ages version :P
There's a guy doing a patch to translate them, unfortunately it's only 60% finished
But that's cuz its got something like 70000 words in it, or the length of a typical Shakespeare pay
OMNIZERO
08-13-2004, 04:37 PM
Yeah, i was pretty sure they were cousins, but I was just wanting to make sure because her crush is a little...different. And i see i wasn't the only one who thought so, hehe. But a game would definetly explain some of that.
Or would it make it more confusing?
I mean, this is the same series that halfway through starts with the whole demon slaying thing... right out of nowhere! It goes from being all about eating fish and worrying about cold weather to... DEMON SLAYING! If you tell someone who's only seen the first few episodes that there's a whole bunch of demon slaying, they don't believe you. Trust me, I have :P
And Jack, that's the first (and only?) time I've ever heard a hentai game's writing compared to shakespear :P

hey bros i new in watchin anime, really appreciate if yall can send me the Kanon files or tell me the website where i can download the files.
THANKZZ:):)
Welcome to the community n3wb. I believe they're still available from animesuki (http://www.animesuki.com), but I could be incorrect. If you don't see them there, they are available in your local video store :P
thanks for the link sim9. Is the torrent named air?
I believe AIR is a different anime. It is very similar in many respects (drawing style, character mannerisms) but has a different story, characters, and so on.
Thanks, i have found kanon already but the download is really slow(as i am behind a firewall) so i would really appreciate it if you could upload the file somewhere so i can download using download manager. Thanks;)

Sorry n3wb but we're unlikely to do that due to legalish reasons (although technically its not illegal). There are other topics in the forums that contains links to sites that do offer direct downloads though.
Thanks.
Could you put the url of the topics you said here?
I can't seem to find it.

AIR is a differnt anime, made by the same people who did Kanon, both good, AIR has slightly better drawing as it was made later on, but Kanon is still a good anime to watch
