Alright, since I'm more stoked about the new HL1 mod that Flaw and I are starting to work on, I've already started getting files.

I'm going here because I trust you guys more than I trust the rest of the internet.
How do I make a Half-Life 1 menu screen background?

What other files do I need to create, or copy and how do I make them?

No, I already have the background made, its just that whenever I look at the other hl1 mods I've downloaded, all their backgrounds are cut into different sections in a random order. Do I have to follow this?

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on how the code is drawing each piece. I'm guessing you have to follow it unless you recode the UI.
