Earadio?

It is doubtful at this stage, but what are everyone's thoughts about us having a small internet radio station? Would probably focus on news, interviews, covering games, etc. On off-hours we'd play primarily techno/electronica (sorry fyre :P ) Primarily, I'd like us to get as much of our own content as possible. Any thoughts?

Not a bad idea. Would be a good way to get more people to come to us, espically if we get a big name for an interview (like saddam :D). Also a good way to draw people into irc. AND CAN I BE A DJ!!!?

all i gotta say sim,is ,i like techno,but 24/7 techno = technichal,look forward to heavy metal,if im a DJ,cause the public dont want techno,and were here for them :D...yeah,that excuse works,i mean...thanks bye

Sim, could you somehow setup an interface to let users DJ, they sign up and get say, an hour etc (or some time), other users could rate them etc. Somehow then involve IRC... and then erm, users own songs... then the money comes pouring in... and w00f...

It's at least innovative, I dunno how well it would work in reality though :P

Sim, have you heard of licencing fees?

Do a search (google or what ever) for Performing Rights Society (that's the UK one) and select whichever us equivalent you like :P

And yes, webradio does need a licence, unless you broadcast nothing but your own music :)

Broadcasting a radio station is only illegal if you get caught :)

If you would broadcast some independent groups (ie those not signed up with huge record companies) they'd probably more than likely be flattered that you think their work is good. It's nice to be appreciated :D

And of course, if Sim gets emailed saying that he's violating copyright stuff, he could just take down the copyrighted material.

Well now... As I said with the server instability. Presently the IRC is down yet the main site is up as evident in my posting right now.

We really don't need more added on to the server connection woes.

wow, posted nearly a year and a half ago!? Stop going into the HT graveyard! Recently Aero & Manic have been brought back. This must be your doing! Not that I don't appreciate some classical community goodness ;)

Peercast is something we might do for eatv, but a radio station is probably out. Let's face it, sim on the air = bad :P
