View Full Version : Half-Life Open Source
I'm wondering if valve will ever release the source code to Half-Life, as quake source is continually released. Of course, by the time they release the code, the engine will be obsolete, but I'm wondering if they'll ever bother. <_<

If they ever open the door of the sorce code you open the door for cheaters. Atlest currently cheaters still have the pain in the ass of backwards enginering the program. If you think the online hl has a cheating problem, you havent seen nothing yet.
Perhaps, but I'm sure they could implement CRC-checking or something similar. In any case, I've heard that argument so many times that I have begun to become frustrated. Sure, lag-compensation is nice, but I'd rather have open source =\
