I'm getting fed up of people asking EATV to show anime which are licenced

So here's a list of thing to do prior to asking :

1/ If the Anime is in English, or shown on a TV station - It's licenced, so don't ask :P
2/ If you can Buy a DVD or Video in the US or Europe, it's licenced, so don't ask :P
3/ Check on the internet. The site I use is Anime News Network (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php).

Others have their own preference of website for licence checking, either way, check before posting, cuz i'm getting fed up of doing the same thing, time after time

lol good idea to post that :)

I think the main problem is that people see a dozen (or whatever # it is) winamp channels playing anime, and most of what they play is licensed, so they figure that EATV would also broadcast licensed anime.

Yeah, I know :(
But it really pissed me off for some reason :axed:

I'll put it down to lack of HD space

well, Love Hina is sold here in the states, so why wont you show that? Other WinAmp stations do.

Gah

EATV only shows unlicensed anime. Love Hina is licensed (refer to the "If it's sold in the U.S. then its licensed")... EATV follows the law, the other stations do not, broadcasting copyrighted material without a license is illegal, whether or not its anime or music etc.

Since the stuff EATV shows is not copyrighted (in the USA) it is legal to broadcast. As soon as it becomes licensed (ie copyrighted) then EATV stops showing it.

Hi.. Before I start on my first post Id like to thank all of you who work so hard at keeping EA up and running.. I just got hooked about 3 days ago.. ya.. Havnt left my computer desk yet.. my chairs getting a groove.. Anyways back to what I was going to say.. About liscened Anime's, since you are showing Kanon then obviously its not liscened, but are their any plans on getting the special bonus ending? This is probably the wrong place to to have pasted this and my apologies if it is, I just didnt know where else.. Sorry for any inconvenience.. Thank you once again!

Hi, Wings :)-
Welcome to the EATV forum
There's a couple of things you should know:
1/ Anime is addictive :D I've been watching it for 20 years, and currently have in excess of 70 series :P
2/ Your post would have fitted in the What do you want to see thread better <_<

Just for you, Kazehana (Wind flower) is an extended ending to the last episode. It was only available if you got enough points when you bought other Kanon goods (I want an Ayu-chan body pillow :D) Enjoy the series

First post in the forums, lets see if first impressions do make or break it...

1) Yeah it'd be great to see that additional ending to Kanon... but meh... not TOO excited about it. (origional ending kinda sucked emotionally)
2) I don't think you could have been more clear on defining licensing if you tried
3) Condor Hero is now licensed   ? Did I read wrong:

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/article.php?id=5591

If I am right, then I know why there aren't new episodes of it on EATV. But looking back on Walrii's post, I am curious as to why we are still showing the first 5 on EATV.

Not that I mind... I was just hoping too see more episodes cause it looked interesting, and thought maybe since EATV is _still_ showing it we might break from tradition and do just that. (but somehow I doubt it)

And just a final SUPER GJ to the admin, because I've never actually been in a forum this clean b4.

Hehe, thanks leach (and welcome to the forums)! :D

Yeah, condor will be coming down on the next update. Will be encoding some new things too to compensate for it :)

well what i'd like to kno, why don't you email the licensed company and request permission to show their films?

Amnistar

well, they won't grant permision without money. See, that's how these companies make money. They own the anime, and charge a "small" (read enormasely huge) fee for people to show it.

Well, I did email a bunch of companies asking about licensing information... and I've heard nothing back. Not surprising though :(

once it is licenced it is licenced forever.

I rember when it was on fox. Dragonball z was on wb. I didn't like anime back then.

Licensing is good for the anime industry.

At least that's what we're supposed to mindnumbing say. I'd much rather have free anime :P
