Basically, just make some .zip containing the files necessary to encode with the settings already saved (preferably standalone / no installers, Windows, so I start it up, select a file and it already knows what bitrate etc to use). Is that possible? Do you even have a Windows machine?

CHANGELOG
Version 2.2 (20060815) (rm)
(+) Now with Installer!
(+) Added Right Click -> Send To -> Zetx's Batch Encoder
Version 2.1 (20060814) (rm)
(+) Filnames with spaces now work correctly
(+) ZBE now acts in a more sane way when the output file already exists
(-) When encoding multiple files, it will skip to the next file and log the error to zbe.log
(-) When encoding a single file, it will now retry instead of exiting
Version 2.0 (20060814)
(+) New program name! (Thanks Sim9 )
(+) Now supports multiple files!
(+) Output file is now <filename>.ogg instead of <filename>.<ext>.ogg ( @ Neo; the original wasn't a "bug" it was a feature called "I don't know how you want to name your files anyway.")
(x) There is an issue with filenames that have spaces in them, but "<Sim9> [...] Spaces = death by execution."
Version 1.2 (20060813)
(+) Original Release
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Right click on the files you want to encode and select "Send To" -> "Zetx's Batch Encoder".
2. Upon completion, it'd be wise to look over your new file for any glitches
Hopefully it works for everyone else (and if it doesn't, I'll try and fix it ;p)

The latest version is an executable, and as such I cannot attach it to a forum post. Get it here:

http://editingarchive.com/view.php?ID=784

[edit: For version 2, the program has been renamed Zetx's Batch Encoder, or ZBE for short. The file itself has been renamed to reflect such changes.]

[edit: version 2.1 released, no filename change so just replace the old file and encode away!]

[edit: version 2.2 released, now uses an installer program for easier versioning/updates in the future. also, cool context menu encoding! also includes ffmpeg2theora now... Oops, the changelog doesn't reflect that, but I'll add it to the changelog as a change next update ]

I made a few minor changes, and added zbe-2.1 to the original post for downloading. Nice job Zetx And way to get me motivated with promises of debugging (I love debugging)

I hope this new encoder works! Because if it does, Zetx may have outdone himself.

Real Nice Zetx. Im working on improvements like compesation for aspect ratio and. Non-Avi source work. Also for adding black bars for widescreen materials. and renaming shows if one already exist. (large use of avisynth)

Red face Yet another encoder

Yeah... I rewrote the entire encoder to make it fail-safe
It is not a batch file but a exe.
I think it is linux friendly code. If you want to try compiling it for linux PM me.

The problems that i ran into with the zeb encoder that i fixed

zeb and theora (at least on my computer) needed to be in the same folder as the video. That was the first thing that i fixed.

It did not encode the file if it already exists.
I made mine so that it would rename it like windows would filename_%number%.ogg

And it adresses source file naming it can handle spaces, files with no extensions, and files with the slashes going the other way (for linux)
